My 15 month trip in Africa IN PICTURES – PART (II.) – Hermanus – the best place in the world for watching whales?

Honestly, I didn’t expect that Africa could be so stunning. I was amazed and so happy there 🙂

I started my long „trip“ in Africa in 2018 and then during the next 15 months, I travelled around South Africa, Eswatini (before: Swaziland) and Mozambique 🙂

Last time, you explored Cape Town (the picture story is HERE) with me – maybe the most beautiful city in the world? 🙂

Now, you’ll explore with me PROBABLY THE BEST PLACE IN THE WORLD FOR WHALE WATCHING! 🙂

By the way, when I was in Cape Town (CT), once I made a trip to Hermanus – It’s a town (not so far from CT) 🙂

And now, do you want to know why Hermanus is the best spot for whales? 🙂

Watching whales was an unforgettable experience, most probably the best experience ever! 🙂 It’s so beautiful to just watch them as they are swimming and it looks like they are enjoying every moment in the water and they are playing all the time 🙂 . Moreover, they are so huge, it just takes your breath (breθ) away 🙂

I was shocked at how many whales I could see at just one place  🙂 …I saw maybe 30 whales during just one day! 🙂  …and you know what..I was worried before that I wouldn’t see any 🙂

The whale season in Hermanus (Hermanes) is between June and December every year. But it’s said the best month is September because whales give birth, and there are so many of them at this time 🙂 ..And I agree, I was there in September 🙂

You can take a cruise (kru:z) to watch them close :). The cruise costs around 1 400 Czech crowns and lasts for 2 hours and 30 minutes.

If you take the cruise, they can get you really close to them (but whales aren’t disturbed ) 🙂

BUT you don’t have to take the cruise to see whales because you can also watch them just from the coast. After all, they are all along the coast 🙂 ..So imagine watching whales all day FOR FREE! 🙂 .. do you see now why it’s the best spot? 🙂

There are plenty of walking trails along the coast so you can just walk along and watch whales, and enjoy beautiful views of the surroundings as well 🙂

Notice this sign – SHARK CAGE DIVING – you can even watch sharks under the water! 🙂

Of course, I recommend Hermanus. I often remember this place because it was just a breathtaking experience  🙂
